why Robin Williams meant so much to me.
I've never been one to be star struck, to freak out at fame. I've met hundreds of famous people. I gushed a little bit over Stevie wonder and Sir Michael Caine, but never lost my cool. I nearly did when I met Robin Williams. He had been a hero of mine, a foul mouthed, funny as hell ADD kid, that made everyone laugh. Working where I did, I never knew who was to be our next visitor. I'd get a call for tea or cakes, or some such food and I'd bring it where I was told, give a wee presentation and then be off to cook something else. I had a conversation about Guinness with Steven Spielberg but it was nothing like just sitting with Robin. He was quiet, reserved, and seemed almost uncomfortable. He was very kind, complimentary, and even asked about bits of my training and life. I expressed my gratitude and explained that he was the most important person of my youth.
I really had two heroes growing up. I was the outcast in all things. I wasn't able to do much physically due to my injuries. I was an awkward boy with little social skills. I had a wicked case of jumpies as one of my teachers called it. I would jump from subject to subject like mad. I was later placed in what they called "retard" class. Yes they were still not so politically correct in the 80's and I was placed in Special ed, or Retard class. I'll get to that later though..
My other hero is of course my Grand father. I'm certain that he would, by his lonesome, figure out how to defeat all of the zombies, build a deck, rewire a car made out of wood, and create electricity from chewing gum.
My thoughts are disjointed. I will save my grand da for another time. He's still way cooler than anyone i've ever met though.
Childhood was rough. I'm not going to whine about it, I just don't want to forget it.
I feel like a load of people blame things on a rough childhood. "oooooh My da didn't love me , he didn't express his feelings" this is utter crap.
Don't blame crap on your upbringing, understand it and own it. Find an outlet for c sakes.
I was a broken legged, blindish lad, who had wicked a d d, I came from a very abusive poor poooor family, and look at me now. I'm older and have never been to jail. Its the little things. I'm kidding. I read a load, sat upstairs in my grandparents house, read dictionarys, german bibles, physics books, learned crap from the early 1900's. My outlet was information, activity.
Where am I going with this IDK.
My outlet became humour. I would be beaten and I'd laugh, it would make the beatings worse, but I'd laugh harder, cry, and laugh some more. I don't know if this is a trait I collected from my grandmum. She would laugh at funerals, we laughed together at her own sisters funeral a couple times. Levity got me through life.
Things weren't good growing up, things were very bad actually. I could handle the abuse, the no food often, the being left in random casino arcades or shipped off to people I didn't really know. I couldn't handle how people saw me though. I felt frail, I was always told how frail, how weak, how stupid, how this and that I was.
I met mork very early on in my youth. He seemed just as awkward as I. I could relate. I often felt as thought i was on the outside ofhumanity looking in. I wanted to report to someone. "today I felt this, I can see others feeling something similar but in a completely different way." Mork out/
I've now had three ciders, and can fully engage add mode.
lets do odd things
top ten things I learned from RW
10. Hide in Plain sight
sometimes disclosing so much people thing you're an open book, is a means to actually keeping all of your secrets.
9. Take the parts
If you're hard up for work, take the parts you're not cast for. Work hard, learn something new, break out of your type casting.
8. Don't be afraid to be animated.
Real life cartoons exist. Be animated, be Italian, learn to express everything to give someone else pleasure.
I've often had the best days because I've made a kid laugh. 'I'm a real live boyyyy"
7. Let people know you can be serious.
We can be a genie, or we can be a doctor, where is my "finding Forrester and good will hunting" Crossover. know that your life can bleed over to work, cover when you can, use its energy to make work brilliant.
6. Know your faults,
Remember one of his first bits on tele? He used to do heavy drugs and ETOH, he later became a vegan and supporter of people's health.
Sometimes we can stick with something. I love cooking for people, I love entertaining, I love ETOH, i've never done any drug of any kind. My health issues should have me taking all sorts of pain aids but I can't stand for taking that much . I have a couple ciders and forget the pain for a bit. Wake up try to resist and feel the pain all over again. I really wish people knew how much pain I was in every day. My legs hurt me so much that I often don't get out of the car, i just sit in the lot until i have the energy to get out. I am sure my sis would tease me about this. Sorry foot was right the other night. I just couldn't move
5. Support what you believe in.
he was a firm supporter of the military, not the missions but the people who served.
I served, love my country and my fellow sailors and soldiers. I cannot say whether I agree or disagree with operations, but i would put my life above all of my fellow service members.
4/ Don't be afraid to be hairy
I really don't have to give description to this one. I'm short, hairy, and can be funny on occasion. RW could have been my da.
3/ Compliment and bee yourself.(when you can)
Hiding in plain sight is difficult, jump around, be yourself, enjoy randomness
eat dessert first and be honest with your chef
2. I learned that you should have asked for help, should have should have should have. should have not said should have. We feel so alone, surrounded by people, surrounded by the people that love us, endear us, and prais us. We do not, however, feel loved or appreciated. I feel this way all the time. I'm told not to be so dramatic, not to dwell, or get over it. I try, i've been through hell, to war, to the town of hate and it's so hard to do as others say. I'm okay now but I know I'll end up like you if I don't ask for help.
1. Feel free to jump around, harnass your funny and if they don't think you are go to another subject.
I laugh at myself, others, daily random whatevers, I can be the genie or donkey or whatever the hell I want. I need to laugh, learn, love and be whatever to make others happy.
I feel like my ten things are bloody lame. I met you a couple times, you loved my food and teas, i loved how you protected my sanity. I'm sorry that there was nothing we could have done for you.
I could go on but I don't know what else to write right now... I'm very sad and I don't know what to do about it. I very much doubt others would even understand why i feel the way I do.
I've written this post over the few hours since I've learned of his death.
i'll get a couple views, my friends will glance over it.
Robbin Williams, #Robbinwilliams, will always be an inspiration, a motivation to and for me. I loved that he was such a proponent of brain health, and the health and wellness of our geriatric community. I thank him for m childhood, for naughty toons, then funny aliens, odd scottish women, and more toons, presidents, teachers, psychiatrists, dead presidents.
People who ate my food and paid me a compliment.
I'm not making sense, just writing random things now
Thank you sir
How's your seat up there? I don't care how you went, the laughter you caused is worth 1mil seats in heaven
I reread this pizzle I posted.
sweat from a babboons balls I think mr hall would say.
I learned that you could be different, funny, hide, and be yourelf all in one go. That people will never knew the real you. I really wish he had a better support system, shown how much people really loved him... i hate that I couldn't have been one of those people. My food was good but I think my influence would have been better.

microsoft surface
I just wanted to test the Microsoft surfaces keyboard. I just got it for my birthday and I have to say that I'm loving it. it's the thinnest thing I've ever typed on. I really wish I had this in college. I'm loving the interface, the apps and everything. I believe it puts all the ipads to shame.
Cheers

Jumper Cables, Surfboards, and Army Men

We wake up in the middle of the woods with a surfboard, jumper cables, & little toy army guys, what did we do the night before?] A very boring story but its what "happened"
Our first adventure to the ocean wasn't long lived. We had rented a car from some no name company. The man who gave us the vehicle smelled of Bratwurst and cigars, and let me remind you that it was not good sausage. The car looked like a hybrid, oh no not gas/electric or flexifuel, but a hybrid between a toy VW bus and a real car. It's quite difficult to describe. I liken it to how the Russians would make cars modeled after others and give them big Russian names. These cars would often have similar looks, but be far cheaper in construction.
Carbon copy and on our way.
The trip was to only take us about 2 hours. The road between Seattle and Ocean Shores is full of straight shots, long winding roads, slow zones, fast zones, and everything in between. "Why does the car sound like a lawn mower?" you asked. I shrugged my shoulders, thinking in the back of my head "I hope its not a two stroke." It took us about 5 hours to get there. We drove right up onto the beach, the fog was just rolling in. I had hoped that the trip wouldn't have taken so long so that we would have had some more daylight. We took it for what it was. A beautiful ride, amazing scenery, and great company.
We parked the "bucket", as we started to call it, up by a siren post and started to beach comb. The waves were crashing about, a brilliant deafness they caused. I had been playing in the sand a bit, you approached me and held out your hand. There were 5 little army men, covered in seaweed and muck. You seemed gleeful that you liberated them on the shores of Washington. They must have had a night incursion planned, but you foiled their plans. The objective was way to far up the beach head. We laughed a bit and started to walk towards a fire. 7 people sat around the fire, laughing and carrying on. Surfer types, sans the southern cali "dude" accent. They offered to share their fire with us. We just sat there chatting with everyone. It was getting late and we excused ourselves from the fire. Walked back to the bucket and drove to a local pub. It seemed to be full of the old locals. Crikey hours we spent in there. We should have found a place to stay, but we let adventure take us. One of our surfer friends entered the pub with his Board. He asked around if anyone had a ride, as his had just ditched him. The locals knew him but were all too tipsy to drive anywhere. I agreed to give the guy a lift. You seemed apprehensive, but I assured you that everyone knew him and he wasn't going to murder us. Besides, he's taking a huge risk riding in the bucket. We drove and drove, and finally ended up out in the woods, a surfboard sticking out the window. It seemed this man lived in the woods with his other friends, which were already drinking when we arrived. I asked them why they didn't give their friend a ride. One told me that they switch off monthly leaving someone on the beach. We had a beer with the guys, chatted a bit, and then decided to leave. We got about a mile down the dirt road when our car stalled. I hopped out, looked for some cables but all I found was a stripped, taped, set that looked like it was used to jump sherman tanks.
Instead of fretting, you told me not to worry about it. We hopped in the back, looked up at the filtered night sky, and passed the night away. We woke to find the surfboard leaned against the car, the toy soldiers had created a bunker in the side of my leg, and the half eaten jumper cables, hung upon the head rests of our seats.
yawwwwn.

Just some things on my mind. sorry for the absense
Whilst I usually prefer pen to paper, ink to flow I thought this a proper opportunity to use some of the new programmes on my laptop. Will had taken my Beta off of the bloody thing and now it'll stay on much longer than two hours. I am still alarmed at the heat sink problems it experiences but I'm sure the new one I get will be much better.
I've not written in these pages for some time. I haven't really felt the motivation to pour words to the page. Certain events change the way I feel about noting down my feelings and experiences.
My mum died a couple days ago, quite sudden for me and rather unexpected. My sis had called me the night before and complained about mum for a long while, I tried to explain to her that most of what is going on in her own life is her fault and that she has control over what happens. We are in control of ourselves and our choices are our own. I know this is a hard thing to believe as we often find ourselves dwelling upon past events. She had done a load of things wrong in our books. He was a queen of manipulation , a liar to no end, but she was our mother. She begged, borrowed, and stole for us. Took the brunt of beatings, worked the extra hours, and fell victim to addictions. She never stopped loving us though. I can see this by all of the pictures she kept by her side. My sister was her best friend, and it killed her that she didn't see it.
The night it happened I wasn't feeling well, as I haven't been for the past few months. My colitis is really hurting me and I don't know what to do about it. Its embarrassing to always have to run to the washroom and plan my day around where I can easily have access. Sorry for the distraction I am far too prone to it. I called mum to tell her that her daughter is just having a tough time and to not let it bother her she asked me if I was going to come over and I had told her that I was planning on doing it later or the next day. She expressed her excitement to see me
Red called me and told me that mum was gone, I left for the hospital to take care of whatever had to be taken care of. I donated her eyes but the body place wouldn't take her as she was a bit over weight. Evidently med students can't work on chubby people for anatomy class. Grandma, Grandpa, Red, Uncle Jerry and I sat around her body for awhile just chatting about things. Red and I went back to the house and started to tear it apart looking for mum's wishes, her files and forms.
It must have been a huge joke of hers to have told us that these things existed because as we tore the house up we found nothing but old forms, coupons, magazines, and all sorts of garbage. The woman was a packrat indeed. I have a meeting tomorrow with the crematorium so I can pay for everything. Fill out the death certificates and start all the processes of telling everyone that she's gone. I'm not quite sure what to do about everything but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
I've found myself starting to send random text messages to her as I used to do, I'm here or I'm doing this or that. But then I remember and stop myself. Red told me that he stayed out of the bathroom the other day because the door was closed and the light was on. I'm glad that she isn't in any pain, I wish I had said goodbye and that she gave better instructions.
I suppose its time for me to start something new for myself. I have lingered so long trying to help, even though I don't think I did very much. I even slipped on my dog walking duties as of late. I will mow the lawn and clean and donate like bloody crazy tomorrow. I am rather sad right now and can't wait for my travel season. I will start exercising and working hard at whatever it is I do.
I know that there will be people around me that will be disappointed but I don't know how to prevent that. On another note i'd like to start my cider as soon as possible, I think it would be good fun to make something I do so enjoy. I'll start with an apple cider, some good champagne yeast and a load of honey, got to give the yeast something to eat right? I was disappointed to see that there was carbonation added to a cider I had the other day. I figured the byproduct would put off enough CO2 without having to add any. Well my plane is starting its descent into Seattle I will stow my computer and post this later. If anyone feels ignored or insulted by my lack of communication, just know I'm working through everything and I'll be better soon. Its just what I do.
Cheers for now

Today
The first evening in my dorm has me reconsidering medical school (not really), I mean Harvard Law School really does have nice dorms. I don't know how much they would be during the semester, I have two bay windows, nice dark wood furniture with brushed silver handles, a lovely kitchen with sitting area, walk in closet. Rather unexpected. This will have to go down as my favourite dorm of all time. I haven't tried the Harvard food yet, but I look forward to it. I'll post my top ten universities for food and dorms soon. The rain doesn't want to let up. It started last night and seems to be a bit stubborn. Its refreshing, it had been hot and dry in Seattle for a couple weeks, Oakland was dry and sunny, and Las Vegas seemed quite temperate. Odd to think that I've been to all those places in a week but meh. I'm supposed to go meet the staff at 0830 for breakfast. I'd like to do my legs and back workout before I eat. I haven't kept up with my p90x writings and reviews. I should do yoga in the morning and then legs and back in the evening. You can't forget to do your Yoga or stretch. I know the yoga programme is about an hour and a half, but suck it up cupcake..
